Metz, France - Travel Through France Series
Six months ago we moved to the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany and it has been an absolute dream. Now that the weather is warmer, I have made my way outside of Germany... to Metz. Metz is only a little over an hour from Baumholder, where we live, and right outside of Nancy.
Metz has so much history as it is both Roman and Gothic architecture that meet together. If you want to experience real authentic French country while still near bigger French and German cities, Metz is for you. The people were so nice and the food was amazing.
Because I live so close to Metz, I only explored the old Roman Port, the Farmers Market, the cathedral, and the streets. As I continue to visit Metz, and the rest of France, I will update my experiences and where to go!
Le Temple Neuf
Surrounded by the Seille River, Le Temple Neuf is a must-see. Meaning 'New Temple", Le Temple Neuf is a Protestant church in Metz. Cross the bridges over the river and explore the temple island yourself!
Porte de Allemands
A Roman-era port that used the Seille River to bring in goods through Metz during Roman times. France and Germany have the most pristine Roman ruins outside of Rome! Pore de Allemands is the LAST remaining castle bridge in all of France.
Metz Cathedral
14th Century cathedral, dedicated to Saint Stephen. Metz Cathedral was joined together as collegiate church to Notre-Dame.
Charcuterie Board at "Approved" in Metz The most delicious charcuterie board in the center of Metz, for only 18 Euro. The staff were so incredibly nice! Will definitely be going back and I highly recommend while in Metz.
